At Health Integrated our team is our most valuable resource. Over 175 dedicated professionals share our vision of integrating health with life and are passionate about making it happen everyday. We built our company with a diverse complement of expertise in medicine, technology, marketing, and business management. For every individual we work with, Health Integrated can draw upon a multi-disciplinary team of experts in behavioral and medical health, including nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, behavioral health professionals and educators, to drive lasting change and deliver the greatest impact on clinical outcomes and utilization.

Our management team shares the same vision and passion. Collectively they possess a vast range of clinical, scientific and business expertise that is now focused on the single mission of delivering Targeted Population Management programs for our health plan partners.

Shan Padda, Chairman and CEO

Shan provides the overall strategic leadership and visionary direction for Health Integrated. Shan has a consistent track record of vision, leadership, and success in the healthcare industry. Before joining Health Integrated, Shan co-founded and directed a number of companies in the medical technology area. Two companies initially founded by Shan were sold to private buyers, and one was taken public and traded on the NASDAQ Exchange. Under his tenure, the company approached $70 million in annual sales and had market capitalization of approximately $450 million. Shan was named to the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame in 1995, and was named Illinois High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 1998. Shan currently sits on a number of private and public boards and is a graduate of Harvard University.

Sam Toney, M.D., Vice Chairman and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Sam Toney provides primary clinical, program and criteria oversight for Health Integrated and brings over twenty years of expertise in designing and implementing successful specialized behavioral health disease and case management programs across the country. A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Toney founded Health Integrated in 1996 in response to the growing need for sophisticated care management systems that address both the medical and behavioral health issues affecting patient care. He served as the National Medical Director for a large managed behavioral health organization and developed a chain of outpatient mental health centers and both multi-specialty IPA and Primary Care Networks throughout the country. Dr. Toney’s experiences reinforced his belief that the combination of medical and behavioral care improves clinical outcomes and reduces costs for payers. Dr. Toney is licensed to practice medicine in over 14 states and is also board-certified in Utilization Review and Quality Assurance.

Steve Wigginton, President

Steve is responsible for building and supporting Health Integrated’s strong customer-focused culture, with accountability for the company’s business development, sales, marketing, product development and client services efforts. In addition, Steve represents the company as a part of Health Integrated’s commitment to outcomes and ROI transparency, including as the company’s representative to the DMAA: Chronic Care Continuum’s Outcomes Steering Committee. Prior to joining Health Integrated, he held leadership positions in rapidly growing private and public companies, including most recently as Executive Vice President of Neoforma, Inc., where Steve launched powerful tools that enabled healthcare providers to make better decisions. Prior to concentrating in healthcare, Steve gained experience across a variety of industries—including software development, publishing, manufacturing and advertising—with roles of increasing responsibility and functional scope. Steve co-founded two companies, E-Span, Inc. and Pharos Technologies, Inc., which were sold to strategic acquirers in 1996 and 2000 respectively. Steve earned both his bachelor’s degree in finance and his master's degree in business administration at Indiana University.

Mike Forrester, Ph.D., EVP, Customer Delivery

A clinical psychologist with over twenty years of executive experience in managed healthcare organizations, Dr. Forrester is responsible for the day to day management of Health Integrated services. Prior to joining Health Integrated, Dr. Forrester worked as a regional president at Magellan Behavioral Health where he was responsible for managing all aspects of the delivery of a full range of managed behavioral health services including, clinical management, customer service, network development, claims adjudication, and account management. Prior to his entry into the public sector, Dr. Forrester worked in both private practice and community mental health and was involved in the development of a number of alternative specialized delivery systems for chronically mentally ill and severely developmentally disabled adults and children. He is a licensed psychologist in a number of states and is also on the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Forrester earned a PhD in clinical psychology from Kent State University.

Thomas M. Bendoraitis, CPA, Chief Financial Officer

Tom has more than twenty years experience in the health insurance industry. In addition to providing financial management, Tom has also managed the delivery of customer services, account and network management services, and systems management and development. Prior to joining Health Integrated, Tom served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Magellan Behavioral Health where he had responsibility for the financial operation of Magellan's managed behavioral health businesses. He also served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Human Affairs International, Inc., a former subsidiary of Aetna, Inc. that specialized in managed behavioral Healthcare and employee assistance programs. Tom earned both his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his master's degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut.

Craig Wigginton, Chief Technology Officer

With over 15 years experience in enterprise product development and a broad base of knowledge in building business-to-business applications to drive growth, Craig is responsible for the development and delivery of Health Integrated’s informatics, clinical management systems, and enterprise technical infrastructure. Prior to joining Health Integrated, he held a number of technical leadership positions at Neoforma, including Chief Technology Officer and Chief Technical Strategist. Craig was one of the founding engineers of Pharos Technologies and spent several years in the telecommunications industry with Centillion Data Systems and Ameritech/SBC in a number of technical leadership roles. Craig is a graduate of the College of Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.

Christopher Valerian, D.O., MMM, Executive Medical Director

Dr. Valerian provides strategic and developmental input into the business development, clinical, predictive modeling and metrics reporting areas, including ROI analysis. Prior to joining Health Integrated, Dr. Valerian was Executive Medical Director for Care Management at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. He also served as a physician advisor to the Quality Improvement Organization of New Jersey, was elected officer of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Executive Medical Forum and frequently advises Wall Street firms on topics in healthcare. Additionally, he has made numerous television appearances, as well as newspaper, magazine, professional journal, and podcast interviews. Dr. Valerian received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his postgraduate training in Family Medicine at Duke University. Additionally, Dr. Valerian completed a master's degree in Medical Management from Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
