Health Integrated to Present Depression DM Results at DMAA

TAMPA, FL – June 7, 2004 – Health Integrated, Inc., the country's leading provider of Advanced Care Management services focused on the integration of medical and behavioral management, will be presenting the preliminary outcomes from its Depression Disease Management Program at the Integrated Healthcare Leadership Summit on Co-Morbid Depression and Chronic Illness, sponsored by the Disease Management Association of America (DMAA). The presentation, "Depression Disease Management: Preliminary Clinical Outcomes Metrics & Cost Savings in a Commercial Population", is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8th and will be given by Sam Toney, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer of Health Integrated, Paula Sauer, RN, VP of Care Management at Medical Mutual of Ohio, and Diane Steffick, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Arkansas, Department of Psychiatry.

"We are pleased that this Summit will highlight this very critical issue and are excited about presenting these results," states Sam Toney, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer at Health Integrated. "This is a comprehensive and meaningful matched control group study of the impact of a comprehensive Depression Disease Management program on a significant commercial population," Toney notes. Health Integrated's Depression Disease Management is a very robust program, in contrast with more commonly offered DM programs currently available for depression. "For an effective program that manages the impact of depression, you must utilize multiple sources of case identification including predictive modeling, multiple referral sources, address all medical co-morbidities and provide evidenced-based interventions along with core clinical content," says Toney, "This is what allows you to achieve the improved clinical outcomes along with the financial return on investment (ROI)."

The results presented will include:

  • Clinical outcomes – detailing the improvement in depressive symptoms, reduction of risk levels, and the increase in treatment compliance.
  • Utilization outcomes – detailing the reduction of utilization on most parameters for behavioral and medical care.
  • Financial ROI – detailing the return on investment achieved by the treatment group.
